Jennifer Niven In Manila Event Recap

I still haven’t written my experience with Victoria Aveyard and Sarah J Maas last March but I’ll try to write soon but it was long overdue.

“We do not remember days, we remember moments.”

Jennifer Niven is the New York’s best selling author of All The Bright Places who visited Cebu (May 28,2016) and Manila (May 29,2016) Philippines that was hosted by National Bookstore. It was on May 29 in SM Megamall that I was able to meet the woman who created Finch and Violet’s love story.

I woke up at 3am but I actually slept for only 2 hours that day because I’m so excited!! The travel time is 2 hours and I arrived at the event around 6am and waited for hours until we get our books signed. The line was really long! I was too stunned that NBS is organized compared to the other book signing events I have attended. There were the bouncers who kept the people organized like in Sarah J Maas’ booksigning.

A lot of book bloggers, bookstagrammers and avid fans went there. If you’re really want to attend any book signing events in Manila, I recommend going early like 5 am. This is already my fifth signing event.

All The Bright Places was the first Young Adult that Jennifer Niven wrote.

Waiting for out books to be signed

after the registration. I was number 133 in line.

Waiting in line was bearable because of my awesome friends! I didn’t feel bored while waiting for 8 hours. There’s Kian @jazpher.reads, Kaye @annbibliocastro, ate Rachelle @melanchelly,  Kristine @krxstinc, ate Rizza @rizzathedauntless, Me @bookishwanderlust and ate Michelle @michalvior. I metAte Rachelle during Colleen Hoover, Tarryn Fisher and Christine Brae our first signing event. Since then, we became friends and she introduced me to ate Michelle during Kiera Cass’ book signing and MIBF last year. Until then we met Kian and Kristine *insert Jeno* during Victoria Averyard’s signing and now meeting ate Rizza and Kaye. Look at how our group was formed. I’m so lucky to meet these awesome bibliophiles.

I want to thank each and everyone of you who purchased my bookmarks during the event. If you want to check it out visit @biblioartist and @bookishwanderlust on Instagram. I sell GOT merch and random bookmarks of my fave authors. It was my first time to sell bookmarks in the event and I’m grateful that you supported me.

“You make me lovely, and it’s so lovely to be lovely to the one I love.”

Jennifer arrived at the event at 2pm. They interviewed her first. She talked about her upcoming book Holding Up The Universe and even gave an ARC! As we all know, All The Bright Places will soon be a movie starring Elle Fanning. They were still casting for Finch.

Meeting your favorite author is one of a lifetime experience. That’s why I made sure that I’ll give Jen my digital art. I only make a digital art for my favorite author including Colleen Hoover, Sarah J Maas and now Jennifer Niven.

Finally! I get kind of nervous and excited whenever it’s my turn to get my books signed.

I want her to sign it but the NBS staffs didn’t allow it. I want to hug and chat with Jennifer but we were only given a few seconds but that seconds felt like a lifetime. I will never forget seeing her smile and cry when she saw a lot of us who waited in line just to meet her. Some even camped out at the mall. I admire them!

Jennifer Niven while signing my book.

This was the time when I gave her my fan art! Look at how happy she is! I was telling her to sign my fan art but it wasn’t allowed so she told me ” Thank you so much! I love it! I’ll treasure it forever” AWWWW THANKS JEN!

DSC_0933FINALLY! It was all worth it.  A picture with Jennifer Niven with my fan art!

I was not the one of the few lucky raffle winners of Holding Up The Universe but they gave each on of us a sneak peak of Holding Up The Universe. Mission accomplished!

Group pictures fter the signing!

I would like to thank National Bookstore for making these all possible and for bringing another one of my fave authors here in the Philippines. Thank you Jen for taking time being patient with all of us who attended. It’s a fun and memorable experience to talk with you for just a second. I hope you enjoyed your stay here. I would be glad to meet you again!

First Book Signing ( Colleen Hoover, Tarryn Fisher, Christine Brae)

IMG_20150913_215545National Bookstore hosted a book signing event here in Manila, Philippines last September 13, 2015 in Megamall. Christine Brae (Filipina author of The Light In The Wound, His Wounded Light, etc.), Tarryn Fisher (New York Times bestselling author author of The Opportunist, Dirty Red, Thief, Never Never, etc.), and Colleen Hoover (New York Times bestselling author of Confess, Ugly Love, Maybe Someday, Slammed, Never Never, etc.) visited the Philippines. It is the chance for Filipino bookworms to meet these three lovely authors and get their books signed. I heard a lot of book lovers come to events like this not only to see their favorite author but to meet a lot of bookish friends.

Since I have started bookstagram, I saw a lot of people go to book signings. I kept seeing pictures of them with their favorite authors. It’s on my bucket list to meet my favorite authors and one of them is Colleen Hoover. I have read most of her books last summer. She introduced me to the New Adult genre and to my surprise, I love them all. Her writing style is poetic and her plots are unique. I’m completely amazed with the plot twists and the character development. Maybe Someday and Slammed Series are my favorite book written by Colleen Hoover.

I attended my first ever book signing event last September 13,2015 at Megamall. My friend and I were planning to attend CoHo’s signing during the MIBF but it is only 200 slots so we planned to just go on the 13th because it is not limited. I was supposed to go to Kiera Cass’ book signing event at Shangri La on September 19, 2015 but NBS released this event last month. Fortunately my high school friend asked to if I want to go to CoHo’s signing and of course I said yes. I’ve been wanting to have a companion during the event. We got there around 7 am and the people are already lining up. We were really surprised to see how fast the people come. I saw a lot of my bookstagram friends and followers but I am too shy to approach them. I have two other bookstagram friends. We texted each other and we met while waiting for the mall to open. They’re so friendly. We fangirled about CoHo’s books and of course we talked about books.

DSC_0968We waited for 11 hours but it was all worth it. We were crying when the three of them went on stage and the host interviewed them. They answered some of the questions regarding their upcoming books. When CoHo was holding the ARC (Advance Reader’s Copy) of November 9 every one was shouting and fangirling. She gave it to a lucky girl. Even though I didn’t get to have a copy of November 9, I’m still happy and lucky to meet my favorite author. I am so speechless when our numbers were called. Tarryn is so gorgeous, tall and I love her fashion style. She doesn’t look like a mom. I don’t have her book because Never Never is out of stock so I just let her sign a piece of paper. Colleen asked how I was and I just said I’m fine. I don’t know what to say. I have a lot of questions about November 9 and Never Never but I was completely stunned. It was overwhelming. I asked her to sign my artwork but the nbs staffs said the books are only allowed for the signing. So we just took pictures together and then I gave her my fan art. She was so happy. She told me it was so cute! I want to cry at that time. I didn’t noticed that while we were taking pictures, she signed my fan art. It was the best experience ever. I’m hoping to attend more book signing events in the future to and meet more bookworm friends.
